General Information
Background:
Generally, there are surface proteins on the surface of cells that can bind to immune checkpoint proteins to prevent attack by the immune system. Cancer cells mimic this mechanism by trying to evade T-cell immune surveillance by upregulating proteins that can serve as ligands for coinhibitory receptors. Therefore, drugs that block immune checkpoints are expected to become candidates for cancer immunotherapy.
