General Information
Background:
In 1928, Brumpt proposed that there are two species of Entamoeba histolytica, one of which can cause amoebiasis, and the other is non pathogenic, although it has similar morphology and life history with Entamoeba histolytica, and is named Entamoeba dispar. The cause of amebiasis is Entamoeba histolytica, while Entamoeba dispanensis is not pathogenic.
