Campylobacter jejuni is a normal resident bacterium of many animals, such as cattle, sheep, dogs and birds. This bacterium has endotoxins that can invade the small intestine and large intestine mucosa, causing acute enteritis, as well as causing outbreaks of diarrhea or collective food poisoning.
