Background:
Rosuvastatin is a selective HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors are rate limiting enzymes that convert 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A into formate, a precursor of cholesterol. The main action site of rosuvastatin is the liver, a target organ for cholesterol reduction.
