Background:
AGR2 (anterior gradient 2) is a protein-coding gene. Diseases associated with AGR2 include dubowitz syndrome, and coccidioidomycosis. GO annotations related to this gene include dystroglycan binding and protein binding. An important paralog of this gene is TXNDC12. Required for MUC2 post-transcriptional synthesis and secretion. May play a role in the production of mucus by intestinal cells (By similarity). Proto-oncogene that may play a role in cell migration, cell differentiation and cell growth.
