Background:
IgA1 (immunoglobulin A1) is one of the two existing IgA subtypes. In different body tissues, the proportion of B cells secreting IgA1 and IgA2 is different. Although IgA 1 is the most common subclass of IgA in serum, IgA only accounts for 10-15% of total serum Ig molecules.
